Bio: Jeffrey Preston Bezos, born on January 12, 1964, is an American entrepreneur, media mogul, and investor. He is the creator, executive chairman, and former CEO and president of Amazon, the biggest e-commerce and cloud computing corporation globally.
As a child, Jeff Bezos showed an early interest in how things work—reportedly dismantling his crib as a toddler in order to rebuild it as a bed and turning his parents’ garage into a laboratory. He pursued his interest in computers at Princeton University, where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
Named after the South American River, Bezos launched Amazon.com on 16th July 1995. The website easily outpaced its competitors, becoming an e-commerce leader after 2 years. The company went public in 1997. His continued success led him to purchase The Washington Post newspaper in 2013 for $250 million.
According to Forbes, Bezos was listed in January 2018 as the wealthiest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of $108.1 billion. In 2014, he was ranked the best-performing CEO in the world by Harvard Business Review.
At his current rate of success, it is expected that Bezos will become a trillionaire in the next 25 years.
