Former Dyson CEO Jim Rowan To Succeed Håkan Samuelsson At Volvo

Volvo CEO and president Håkan Samuelsson is set to step down from his role in March after serving at the company for almost a decade. The Swedish vehicle manufacturer has named former Dyson Group CEO Jim Rowan as Samuelsson’s successor.

Samuelsson has been president and CEO of Volvo since October 2012 and previously served on the company board for two years. Prior to his time at Volvo, Samuelsson served as chairman and CEO of the now-defunct vehicle manufacturer MAN SE.

I’m pleased to welcome Jim to his new role to continue the great journey Volvo Cars is on,” Samuelsson said. “I would also like to extend my thanks to all Volvo Cars employees for the incredible progress we have made together in the past 10 years – for not only making Volvo one of the fastest growing and most trusted premium automotive brands but [also] for always innovating and leading with purpose. I wish you all the best for the exciting years to come.”

Rowan is currently the boss of the dishware and drinkware company Ember Technologies. Prior to this role, Rowan stood as CEO of technology giant Dyson for three years and previously served as chief operating officer of Blackberry.
