In a blog post, Bill Gates announced that for the rest of this week, students at college or university can download a free digital copy of his best-selling book “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need.”
Gates’ 384-page book which debuted on The New York Times’ nonfiction best-selling list in February of this year, addresses the climate crisis while suggesting ways for research and innovation in green tech to help stop a global catastrophe.
In the blog post, Gates said that the passion he sees from young people fighting the climate crisis is “one of the main reasons” why he wrote the book in the first place: “Young people are holding their governments accountable and insisting that they commit to eliminating their carbon emissions,” Gates said. “As a result, they’re making those commitments. Now what we need is a plan for getting to zero. That’s what I put forward in my book.”
