Bio: Zhang Xin graduated from Cambridge University with a master’s degree in Development Economics in 1992. She received honorary Doctor of Laws from her Alma Mater, University of Sussex in 2013.
Goldman Sachs hired her to start working for the investment bank in Hong Kong following her graduation. She co-founded Hongshi, the predecessor of SOHO China, with her husband in 1995.
SOHO China develops properties in the central business districts of Beijing and Shanghai. It has a development portfolio of 5.2 million square metres as of 2012.
She was listed in Forbes’ World’s Most Powerful Women in 2008 and included among Forbes’ Top Ten Billionaire Women We Admire and Financial Times’ Top 50 Women in World Business a year later. In 2011, she was named among The International Power 50 of the Most Powerful Women by Fortune.
