Bio:  Meg Whitman graduated from Princeton University with a BA with honours in economics, then received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979.

Whitman started working as CEO for eBay in 1998 until her resignation in 2007, however she stayed as a member of the board and advisor for the new CEO. During her time there, the company grew to around 15,000 employees and went from $5.7 billion to $8 billion in sales.



She served as Hewlett-Packard’s CEO from 2011 until February 2018, when she stepped aside from her position to become CEO of a mobile media startup, NewTV, created by Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Whitman founded a charitable foundation in 2006, with most of the proceeds worth $125,000 going towards the Environmental Defence Fund.

CEO Fact: Whitman ran for Governor of California in 2010, reportedly spending $144 million of her own money.  She ran as a Republican and lost.  Despite being a Republican historically, she supported democratic nominee Hilary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential campaign.
