Bio: In 1983, while attending college at the University of Michigan, Kotick started his career by creating software for the Apple II. He credits Steve Jobs for advising him on dropping out of college to begin as an entrepreneur in the software business.

In 1990, he bought a 25% stake in Activision and became CEO a year later. He then went on to engineer the Activision Blizzard merger and was approved by stockholders to become CEO of the combined company in 2008.



Activision Blizzard launched Call of Duty Endowment in 2009, a non-profit public benefit corporation that helps soldiers that have completed their military service to transition to civilian professions.

Kotick was also a Director at Yahoo! from 2003 to 2008 and was elected an outside Director of The Coca-Cola Company in 2012.

CEO Fact: Kotick had a cameo in the 2011 Brad Pitt film, Moneyball.  Kotick’s appearance was a favour to his friend and the film’s director Bennett Miller.  Miller repaid Kotick by shooting a short film for Activision’s Call of Duty game.
