Henal Somji, co-founder of the DrMediSpa group and creative director of Dr Somji Pro-Active Skincare is not only a successful entrepreneur, but also a Medical Aesthetician and Skincare Expert.

Henal has collaborated closely with her husband, Dr Somji, in building DrMediSpa into an award-winning multi-site clinic group with a day surgery theatre.

With a wealth of experience in testing various products and cutting-edge treatments, Henal has a deep understanding of skincare and is dedicated to finding effective solutions for DrMediSpa patients and her loyal social media followers. She regularly reviews skincare products and treatments as well as sharing tips, routines and insights on the latest trends, ingredients and innovations on her social media platforms.

A regular at dermatology and aesthetic medicine conferences, Henal plays an instrumental part in sourcing, trialing, and refining skincare products used at DrMediSpa, as well as developing effective treatment protocols to help patients achieve their skin goals.

As a busy mother of three, Henal values simplicity and efficacy when it comes to skincare. Her aim for Dr. Somji Pro-Active Skincare was to create a range of products that integrate seamlessly into her busy schedule, while offering simplicity without sacrificing results.

CEO TODAY sat down with Henal to discuss her tips and advice for wellness and great skin:

1.⁠What is your number one daily wellness habit?

My number one wellness habit is staying hydrated. I always make sure to drink at least 6–8 glasses of water a day, as good hydration is essential for our overall health. It gives us more energy, supports physical performance, aids detoxification, and promotes healthy, glowing skin.

Another key habit is following a consistent skincare routine. This helps maintain my skin’s natural balance, keeps it hydrated, and plays a big role in preventing premature ageing. I also prioritise eating nutrient-dense foods—mainly fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants—along with healthy fats like omega-3s. I especially love incorporating salmon into my meals for its skin-loving benefits.

2.⁠What are your go-to skin treatments?

Chemical peels are definitely one of my go-to treatments. They’re fantastic for encouraging cell turnover, unclogging pores, reducing pigmentation, and improving skin tone and texture. I find them especially effective for maintaining a smooth and even complexion.

I also love Sofwave, a non-invasive skin-tightening treatment that uses ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production. It works beneath the surface of the skin, addressing the deeper layers to boost elasticity and reduce fine lines—perfect for subtle, natural-looking results. Lastly, I often recommend laser treatments, particularly CO2 lasers, which help to stimulate collagen, target sun damage, reduce pigmentation, and refine overall skin texture.

3.⁠Can you share a skincare or wellness tip you swear by?

One of the most underrated yet powerful wellness tips is getting enough good-quality sleep. It’s something many people overlook, but during sleep, our bodies go into repair mode—producing collagen, reducing inflammation, and rebalancing hydration levels. If we don’t get sufficient rest, our bodies don’t have the time they need to regenerate, and that can show up in both how we feel and how our skin looks. Prioritising sleep has a noticeable impact on skin health, energy levels, and overall well being.
