48 Hours in the heart of Malaysia
Whether you have got just 48 hours on a layover or you are settling in for a longer stay, where you choose to stay in Kuala Lumpur (KL) can make all the difference. Your hotel isn't just a place to sleep — it is your base for exploring, unwinding and recharging between city adventures and if you are looking to ease into KL with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and all the comforts of home, Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara is a smart first stop. Located in a leafy, upscale suburb just outside the city centre, this property blends hotel-style hospitality with the comfort of a well-equipped home—ideal for families who need an apartment style space or longer stays.
ACCOMODATION
For families CEO Today highly recommends the spacious two-bedroom suite — fresh, clean and thoughtfully designed for both short layovers and longer city escapes. With two generously sized rooms, a cozy living area and panoramic views that stretched to the distant Petronas Twin Towers, the space felt like an instant retreat.
The fully equipped kitchen (complete with dishwasher and all the cutlery you could need) made it easy to settle in — whether laying out snacks or prepping a quick meal. Even small conveniences, like being able to throw on a quick load of laundry, made all the difference.
Moreover, the apartment-style setup at Hyatt House makes it easy to return for a midday rest, prepare a quick snack or simply enjoy the peace of your suite before heading back out. While you’re based outside the city’s core, getting downtown is a breeze with Uber and Grab services available from outside the front door.
DINING
If you’re looking for food or just want something to fuel your day, grab a hearty breakfast at the Gallery Kitchen- the buffet spread includes both international favourites and local flavours — perfect for an easy start before heading out to explore the city. The breakfast was so satisfying it easily kept us going until late lunch. The kids enjoyed generous portions, and there was great attention to detail across the board — from juicy burgers to fresh salmon and well-crafted drinks. It truly made for a great start to the day and teenagers can grab their Starbucks fixes from the store which is quite literally right in front of the hotel!
For relaxed evenings, the H Bar serves premium drinks and bar snacks, while the Ten37 Sky Bar offers cocktails with a view of the city skyline.
Just steps away, Sunway 163 Mall provides even more variety, including local grocers for quick grab-and-go meals or self-catering essentials- ideal for cooking in your apartment. The Mont Kiara neighbourhood is also extremely trendy and home to a thriving café scene with local favourites like VCR Stacks, Kopenhagen, Kenny Hills and Cotta, as well as standout restaurants such as Kanbe for top-rated tsukemen.
LOCAL ACTIVITIES
Just a five-minute walk from your hotel, the Blue Ice Skating Rink in Mont Kiara is a fantastic activity for children and families alike. Whether your kids are strapping on skates for the first time or already gliding like pros, the rink’s cool temperatures and beginner-friendly skating aids make it a safe, fun and refreshing escape from Kuala Lumpur’s tropical heat. With upbeat music, a lively atmosphere and plenty of space to move, its an ideal way to spend an afternoon — and a unique highlight that's literally right next door.
CORPORATE HIRE
During our visit to Hyatt House, Mont Kiara, we were given an insightful tour of the property’s impressive range of facilities and amenities. It was fascinating to see how the hotel blends business and leisure seamlessly, with a fully equipped business centre, games room and flexible event spaces. Spanning approximately 238 m² across four well-appointed rooms, the meeting and boardroom areas are ideal for corporate gatherings, private functions and parties—with many offering stunning panoramic views of the city skyline.
What stood out was how the hotel also caters to longer stays—particularly for students coming to Kuala Lumpur for short-term courses or families settling in for a couple of weeks.
THE VERDICT?

FINE DINING
THIRTY8 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is a destination in itself—absolutely classy, effortlessly stylish and bathed in golden ambiance from the shimmering skyline views of the Petronas Twin Towers. The restaurant offers a rich variety of Western, Chinese, Japanese and fusion dishes from premium steaks, fresh seafood, sushi, sashimi and more. Signature dishes include the Beef Carpaccio, Tuna Tartare, Sichuan Black Cod, Lamb Chops and Strawberry Carpaccio. CEO Today opted for the Chef’s sharing menu to ensure we tasted a little of everything — from delicate starters to hearty mains, all beautifully presented and thoughtfully balanced.
To end on a sweet note, we ordered the signature breakable chocolate cake — a playful, indulgent dessert that arrives as a glossy chocolate dome. Lightly tap it with a spoon and it cracks open to reveal layers of rich mousse, sponge and hidden delights inside. It is dramatic, delicious, and easily one of the most memorable parts of the meal.
Come morning, the same space transformed into a vibrant breakfast haven. Multiple counters offered everything from traditional Malaysian dishes, curry and rice, to full European breakfast spreads. Unique stations featured karak chai, masala chai and even kombucha—making it one of the most diverse and fulfilling breakfasts in KL.
Whether you’re indulging in the buffet breakfast, sipping afternoon tea or enjoying the à la carte options that span Japanese, Chinese and Western cuisines, the food and atmosphere leave a lasting impression.
