London is globally recognised as a hub of creativity and innovation, and nothing represents this better than the annual London Design Festival. This year, art’otel London Hoxton is celebrating the festival in style, launching a series of immersive artistic events and workshops that align with the festival’s forward-thinking ethos. Running from September 14th to 22nd, the London Design Festival 2024 will be a city-wide celebration of design.
The Event Series
art’otel London Hoxton has built a reputation as a destination that embodies the spirit of contemporary art and culture. This September, the hotel will bolster its art’beat program with an array of events that cater to both art aficionados and curious visitors alike. A series of immersive exhibitions and workshops will be open to the public, making this a must-visit destination for anyone attending the London Design Festival.
Memory Exhibition
One of the standout events will be the Memory exhibition, running from September 6th to 10th, hosted in collaboration with the ArtSect Gallery. This exhibition offers a fascinating exploration of fashion and dance using cutting-edge technology. Employing Gaussian Splat technology, AI, and traditional 3D modelling techniques, Memory creates a surreal, immersive environment that feels like stepping into a dream.
Curated by Christian John Dyson, the exhibition features immersive soundscapes from Andrew Beaton and choreography by Ethan Samuel Jacobs and Bex3. The fluid, blurred figures create a surreal, dreamlike atmosphere, offering a singular vision of how the body, movement, and fashion can merge in the digital age. This thought-provoking display of technology and creativity is free to explore, making it accessible for both art enthusiasts and the general public.
Portfolio Review Workshops for Emerging Artists
For those seeking a more hands-on experience, art’otel London Hoxton will host a series of workshops on September 15th tailored for students and graduates in the arts industry. The event is designed for emerging artists to have the chance to receive professional feedback. Those who participate in in the workshops will also be given the opportunity to present their work to industry professionals. Here, they are given guidance on each step from content presentation to creative development.
A panel discussion will be brought out where leaders in art and design will share their insight on the industry. A chance to take part in a free workshop for students given the priority to grow in the creative space. Professionals are also encouraged to attend and bring their personal projects—whether it’s a book design, photography portfolio, or an art installation.
Legacy of Tomorrow Exhibition
From September 20th to 24th, art’otel London Hoxton will present the Legacy of Tomorrow exhibition – a cutting edge event which merges fashion and digital technology. This metaverse experience was created by digital artist, Kadine James and features digital fashion highlighted in the Metaverse, developed using Unreal Engine 5.1. The exhibition allows visitors to interact with digital fashion in stunning resolution, exploring virtual models, patterns, and designs that push the boundaries of traditional fashion.
Produced by The Immersive KIND, a Web3 commerce company specialising in VR and AR, the exhibition will include collaborations with several forward-thinking digital fashion houses and art collectives such as The Fabricant, Metara, and Hol Studio. This exhibition is a glimpse into the future of fashion and design using the digital world.
