The 2024 Golf Masters

This year the Golf Masters tournament will take place between the 11-14th April. The tournament will go on for 4 days as usual with 72 holes on the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

The 2024 Tournament

This year there will be 88 golfers competing in the Masters, potentially 89 depending on the winner at the Valero Texas Open.

The tournament will be broadcasted on ESPN for the Thursday and Friday rounds and then on CBS for the Saturday rounds and the Sunday Finals.

Tickets, or ‘Badges’ have increased in price this year, selling at around $450 and even more if bought on the second release.

There will be the traditional champions dinner this year on Tuesday 10th April. This year the menu is set by the previous champion, Jon Rahm.

 

The Course

The Augusta National Golf club is a private course only open to members. The course is iconic in the world of Golf with those such as Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus playing there. It was designed by Bobby Jones when he retired from his golfing career in 1930.

Located in Augusta, Georgia and offering amenities such as a fine restaurant, locker room, driving range and more.

The overall length of the course in now 7,555 yards.

The History of the Masters

The course was designed by amateur golfer, Bobby Jones when he retired in 1930 and had a goal of building his dream golf course. Along with the help of investment banker, Clifford Roberts they opened in 1932 and formally in 1933. Later, Roberts became the Chairman helping to create the course into an efficient business and an iconic course.

They began hosting a tournament in 1934 which would become an annual event and Roberts proposed the name, Masters Tournament. This was at first rejected and for the first 5 years it was named the Augusta National Invitation Tournament until the name was changed in 1940.

The tradition of the Champions dinner began in 1952 where they would only invite past champions and the most recent would select the dinner menu.
