Michael Caine To Auction Rolex Oysterquartz
Bonhams auction house in London has recently announced an upcoming sale of some of the personal possessions of Academy Award-winning actor Michael Caine, including an 18K Rolex Oysterquartz Day Date, ref. 19018. Caine has been spotted wearing the watch, on-and-off, since the mid-1980s. The timepiece even enjoyed an extended guest appearance in the 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
The Oysterquartz is one of two timepieces often associated with the actor, the other being with yellow-gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date President, seen in the 1971 crime film Get Carter and the 1972 mystery comedy film Sleuth.
Caine’s Oysterquartz appears to be in overall great shape, aside from a few small chips on the crystal at six o’clock as well as a couple of noticeable blemishes around the fluted bezel.
The “Sir Michael Caine: The Personal Collection” sale is scheduled for March 2, 2022, taking place at the Bonhams’ New Bond Street location in London. Caine’s Rolex Oysterquartz is estimated to sell for £8,000 – £12,000.
