Blanchard & Calhoun: 100 Years of Premium Insurance Services

Preston Moss is the President of Blanchard & Calhoun Insurance Agency Inc, and has been with the firm since September 1980 with his strongest focus in sales. Preston tells us about Blanchard & Calhoun and their hard work spanning 100 years of history, having recently celebrated their anniversary.


How do you ensure the quality of your services? What makes you stand out from other insurance agencies?

We make it a priority to offer the absolute best and most responsive customer service available, utilizing highly qualified and licensed professionals. Not only are we a Best Practices agency (1 of 12 in the entire state of Georgia), but we are also an award-winning agency. Blanchard and Calhoun Insurance has been the ‘Best in Augusta – Insurance’ winner by Augusta Magazine, an award voted on by its subscribers. We were graced with the award again this year, making our 100th year anniversary even more special. We have also been awarded best in class by many of our insurance carrier partners.

Currently, we have three past Presidents of the Independent Insurance Agents of Ga, another as President-elect next year, and another serving on the National Committee of the Young Agents. We are heavily involved in giving back to our community and continue serving on boards and benefiting non-profits throughout the CSRA, something we’ve done since 1919.


Are there any specific challenges you face in the insurance sector? How do you overcome these?

We face the same challenge of many small to medium size companies in the area of attracting new employees. We overcome this challenge by providing a positive workplace culture, with competitive pay and benefits. We want all our employees to know and feel that they are an integral part of the Blanchard & Calhoun Insurance Family.


What should people look for when choosing their insurance agent/carrier?

An agency that has been around for many years and has knowledgeable, ethical, skilled, and licensed employees that strive to provide the absolute best and most responsive customer service. We protect our clients the same way we would protect our families. We take a comprehensive risk management approach to make sure we are protecting the assets of our client’s business or family versus just trying to sell them insurance.


How have you maintained your brand/clients/etc. for the past 100 years?

By continuing to raise the bar with our staff. We focus on retention and unparalleled service. Our clients know they can always count on us to be there, as they have for the last 100 years.
