ABOUT JOHAN THIJS Earning a Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics and in Actuarial Sciences from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Thijs joined the KBC Group in 1988 as an actuary for ABB insurance, stepping up to KBC Belgium’s executive committee in 2006, to then become CEO in 2009. Succeeding Jan Vanhevel, in 2012, he became CEO and President of the parent KBC Group. In 2017, Thijs was appointed Chairman of Febelfin, replacing Rik Vandenberghe and in the same year, he was named the 7th best CEO worldwide by Harvard Business Review. Thijs is very involved in the transformation of banking across Europe and often weighs in on heavy discourse surrounding the culture of banking. NASSER Nasser holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran. Nasser began his career with Saudi Aramco in 1982 as an engineer in the oil-production department. In 1997, he began a streak of managerial positions within the Ras Tanura Producing Department, the Northern Area producing engineering department, as well as the Safaniya Offshore and Onshore producing departments. In 2015 Nasser became CEO of Saudi Aramco. Nasser is also a member of the International Advisory Board of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals; the Board of Directors of the Dhahran Techno Valley Company; the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology; the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council (IBC); the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Presidential CEO Advisory Board; and the JP Morgan International Council.
